Allow me to say this first: I am not proud of this. At all. But now that my one-year exclusivity period with TokyoPOP is over, I can finally post it online. Anyway, I'll be scrapping it soon because it's embarrassing.
This was a manga pilot I was commissioned to do last year. There was a structural revamping within TokyoPOP soon after I completed BlueBlood and many editors were fired, including my own (who, I must say, was an absolute pleasure to work with. Thanks, Hope!). In the end it was never published, and I suppose it was all for the better.
I know it's corny and cliché, and a helluva lot of the drawings suck because they were rushed, and it's not my style at all, but I worked hard for little pay and I guess that's enough to motivate me to show it to the world.
I hope someone enjoys it, because I sure as hell don't.

How much did you get paid, in the end? I hear that these contracts didn't state the pay you'd receive, and it left a lot of room for fucking the artists over. Basically very scam-like, especially since they were dangling it at small time artists or younger people who'd fall for it and not know what they're doing.
quite a bit. most of the time was spent matching the 3D backgrounds to the central characters. even kané's goggles had to be rotated around his head in each frame.
...and now that i look back on it, it just totally sucks haha. what a waste. psshh.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
